A photo, a blanket, a donation. Sometimes, small gestures are all it takes to make a real difference.
On the occasion of International Dog Day, Honda Italia launched a special initiative involving Associates across the plant through the creation of a dedicated space for their four-legged friends, making them in a way always “present” even within the workplace.
A dedicated space was created alongside a solidarity initiative benefiting the dog shelter closest to the Atessa plant, located in Lanciano, which is currently home to nearly two hundred four-legged guests.
Associates were invited to share a photo with their dog, helping to create a large noticeboard dedicated to Honda Italia’s canine community.
Honda’s heart for four-legged friends
More than 100 Associates took part directly in the initiative, sharing photos and stories of their canine companions and turning International Dog Day into a week of sharing and collective engagement.
The project, however, did not stop there.
For every photo received, a can of wet dog food was collected and donated to the Lanciano Dog Shelter, resulting in a meaningful fundraising effort: nearly 130 kg of wet dog food collected, equivalent to more than 180 meals for the shelter’s four-legged residents.
Alongside the food collection, dedicated donation boxes were placed at the plant entrances, allowing Associates to contribute items that could support the animals’ well-being.
As a result, five full boxes of blankets, throws, dry food, treats, accessories and other supplies were collected and donated to the shelter, helping it prepare for the colder months and improve the quality of life of the animals in its care.
Supporting the local community
Particularly meaningful was the contribution of many Associates who, despite not owning a dog or taking part in the photo collection, chose to support the initiative through voluntary donations.
An important sign that confirms how deeply rooted care for the local community and social causes is within the Honda Italia community.
The International Dog Day thus became much more than just a celebration: it became an opportunity to bring people together, share stories, celebrate the bonds that accompany us every day, and provide tangible support to organisations in need.
Our sincere thanks go to all the Associates who took part.
Because every photo told a story, and every gesture helped make a difference.
