Honda Italia was honoured during the Abruzzo Football Gala, organised by the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti (LND), held on 18 June at the “Tosti” Theatre in Ortona (CH).

The award was presented for the “Champions of Responsibility” project, an initiative aimed at promoting road safety education among young people, developed through a direct synergy with the world of sport and football.

“For us, as a motorcycle manufacturer,” commented Honda Italia HR Director Mario Di Cesare during the award ceremony, “safety is more than a priority—it is a moral responsibility, especially towards younger generations. We would like to thank the LND and President Abete for giving us the opportunity to meet so many young people through this initiative, which fully reflects our mission: to eliminate fatal road accidents involving our motorcycles by 2050. I dedicate this award to young people, so that they can express their full potential in sport, on the road and in life.”

Sport and safety: an integrated training pathway

Il valore educativo dello sport

The award was presented by Giancarlo Abete, President of the LND, who highlighted the social and educational role of sport:

“Football has two dimensions: the competitive one, and the social, educational and developmental one, linked to people’s physical and mental wellbeing. The project with Honda makes us proud and is part of a wider set of initiatives we have launched in this area—from ‘Quarto Tempo’ to nutrition education, from our commitment to the Paralympic Football Division to ‘Walking Football’. All these initiatives show how the social dimension and a focus on people’s wellbeing are central to football and sport, in Abruzzo and beyond.”

Through “Champions of Responsibility”, Honda Italia strengthens its commitment to promoting a culture of safety, actively contributing to the conscious development of younger generations.

The initiative represents a concrete example of how collaboration between business and the local community can generate a meaningful impact—not only in educational terms, but also socially—by widely promoting fundamental values such as responsibility, respect and a culture of prevention.
